Appointments

We run three levels of appointments:

  • Pre-bookable: up to 3 months in advance
  • On the Day: from 08:30 same day
  • Urgent  (an appointment that cannot wait until the next routine appointment) from 8.30am same day.

We provide online appointment booking via the link at the top of this page; you will need to register with the service (but this only takes a few moments).

How to speak to a Doctor or Nurse

If you wish to speak to a doctor or nurse please ring 01288 352133 – the receptionist will take your details and message, and pass them onto the doctor/nurse who will call you back when they are free. If you feel it is a medical emergency, please explain this to the receptionist.

Our receptionists are available to answer the telephone Monday to Friday 08:30 – 18:00.

Emergency Calls

In an emergency during surgery hours, please telephone 01288 352133. The receptionist will contact a doctor as quickly as possible. Please be prepared to give details of the patient to the receptionist. In some cases, it may be advisable to phone 999 directly. The ambulance control will assess the urgency of the call on the information you give.

The times when doctors are available in surgery are shown in the opening times. In surgery you are free to see the doctor of your choice though we advise that you keep to one doctor for one episode of illness if at all possible.

You will be seen by a doctor for urgent conditions on the same day if requested. You can usually be offered an appointment with a doctor for non-urgent conditions within 48hrs. Seeing the doctor of your choice at short notice is sometimes more difficult because of other surgeries and commitments but we will always do our best to provide you with the earliest possible appointment.

Consultations at all surgeries are by appointment.

Doctors may need to change their consulting days in exceptional circumstances, however it is planned that they will be available as above.

We would appreciate you do everything you can to keep your appointments or tell us as soon as possible if you cannot attend to enable the appointments to be offered to others.

Chaperones

There may be occasions when you need to visit the doctor or nurse for an ‘intimate’ examination. On such occasions it is your right to be able to request a ‘chaperone’ should you wish to. This could either be a member of staff or you can bring a close friend or relative with you.
