Specialist and Hospital Care

If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they can provide information regarding suitable options and arrange a referral for you.

Accident and Emergency /999

Whatever the day or time, if you or someone else experiences severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to your nearest accident and emergency department or call 999. Accident and emergency departments are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can assess serious injuries and provide emergency treatment. Yours nearest A&E department are at North Devon District Hospital (Barnstaple), Derriford District Hospital (Plymouth) or Royal Devon & Exeter District Hospital (Exeter).

Minor Injuries

Holsworthy Medical Centre provides a Minor Injury service, during surgery opening hours, led by our nursing team. Outside normal hours the nearest Minor Injury Unit is at Stratton Hospital which is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. If injuries have occurred more than 48 hours earlier, patients should be seen by their own GP.

Stratton Medical Centre is located next door to the Minor Injuries Unit at Stratton Hospital so if you do have a minor injury then please go directly to the hospital. If unsure please ring to be advised.
