Recent planning application by South West Strategic Developments on land at Hillhead Farm off Stratton Road Bude

Following the above application and recent press coverage the Practice wished to clarify our position on the references to a 'new medical centre' and to prevent any misunderstandings.

Other than an awareness that the applicant for Hillhead Farm intended to make a reference to the POTENTIAL for inclusion of a new surgery, no terms have been discussed, either in general or detail, with the applicant or their advisors. The land identified close to Morrisons is in fact owned by Cornwall Council.

This site is NOT a 'preferred' location of the practice. It is one of several locations that we have been made aware of by various landowners.

We are actively looking at options for the development of new larger surgery premises that will enable us to offer more health care services, catering for both existing patients and the undoubted growth in patient numbers from new residential developments in the region. We are working with experienced partners who specialise in primary care surgeries and who have the expertise to deal with all aspects of the project from site assessment, detailed design and actual realisation of the new premises.

Our partners are currently considering locations where sufficient land can be made available to accommodate a modern fit for purpose health care building with scope for future expansion at the one location.

As the proposals become clearer and we are confident that a location can be delivered, meet the pressing need for new premises now and looking into the future, we shall begin full consultation with all interested groups. We do not wish to raise patient expectations on timing and location only for any proposal to quickly prove undeliverable.
